Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center: Academic Clinical Associate in Thoracic Surgery

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a member of the prestigious National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the only upstate New York facility to hold the National Cancer Center designation of "comprehensive cancer center," is pleased to be accepting applications for an Academic Clinical Associate position in Thoracic Surgery.  Candidates must have completed an accredited program in Cardiothoracic Surgery and be seeking a career dedicated to Thoracic Surgery.  The position will allow for the development/enhancement of advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery skills, preparing the suitable candidate for future success in clinical practice and/or academic endeavors.  The experience will provide the general thoracic surgeon advanced thoracoscopic and other minimally invasive techniques as well as immersion in a center devoted entirely to oncology care for the year-long commitment. Candidates must have the credentials to attain New York State licensure.

The thoracic surgery service at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center performs a broad spectrum of surgical procedures for both malignant and benign conditions of the lung, esophagus and mediastinum and consists of seven full-time faculty, including six thoracic surgeons and one dedicated interventional pulmonologist.  The thoracic surgical experience will focus on, but not be limited to advanced thoracoscopic (VATS) lung resection techniques, robotic assisted thoracic procedures, complex airway reconstruction, and minimally invasive esophagectomy.  Experience with advanced endoscopic techniques including navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, as well as per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is available.

The ideal candidate for this position desires a career in non-cardiac thoracic surgery, and upon completion of this year as an Academic Clinical Associate will be prepared to assume a prominent role in a center devoted to minimally invasive thoracic surgery as well as advanced multidisciplinary thoracic oncologic care including academic health care environments.
