Call for Abstracts

Do not miss your chance to submit an abstract for Poster Presentation at the GTSC 37th Annual Meeting! If your abstract is accepted, you'll have the opportunity to present your poster during the breaks on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Please note that travel, accommodation, and meeting registration will be the presenter's responsibility.

Medical students, general surgery residents, thoracic surgery residents, and fellows have the opportunity to receive the coveted Society of Thoracic Surgeons Scholarship. The top two best posters will be awarded this prestigious scholarship, which covers hotel accommodations for the upcoming Annual Meeting (three nights room and tax only), meeting registration fee, and up to $750 reimbursement for travel expenses.

!New in 2025, we will be using a new abstract submission platform. You will need to create an account the first time you submit an abstract. Once logged in, the submission form should be pretty intuitive. However, there is a user guide and chat feature if you need assistance. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Please submit your abstract electronically via the form below.

• Format: Must be in a 8 ½ x 11-inch PDF with Times New Roman font and 10 pt font size. Single space only.  No hard returns
• Title case:  Capitalize first letter of each word in title
• Structured Abstract:  Objective(s), Methods, Results and Conclusions
• Abstract text length:  Maximum 250 words
• Tables:  Up to one table allowed
• Graphics:  Up to one graphic allowed.  Must print out clearly in black and white.
• Other: 
  • No reference to the institutions involved in the study in the body of the text.
  • Full names of authors must be provided
  • Institution or address is to be given, but omit titles, degrees and appointments.
  • When percentages are used, the absolute numbers of derivation must be stated
  • Topics that are primarily cardiac are not accepted.

GTSC does accept case reports, case series and previously submitted abstracts. However, all submissions are subject to review and approval by GTSC Leadership. Submission does not guarantee presentation at the Annual Meeting.
