Activity Overview
The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for general thoracic surgeons to learn the most up to date information on research, patient care, pathophysiology, surgical techniques and educational methods to maintain the optimum surgical care of general thoracic patients. This activity is designed to facilitate improved competence, performance-in-practice and patient outcomes.
Target Audience
This symposium is designed for an audience of physicians, physician assistants and other healthcare providers who practice thoracic surgery.

Robert J. Ginsberg Clinical Trials Day Programming
Keynote: Lots of Groups, Lots of Trials: What's Next?
- Identify the most promising avenues of clinical trial investigation in the thoracic surgery space.
The Role of Thoracic Surgeons in Prescribing Targeted Agents & Focused Review of Cooperative Group Trials
- Identify current and pending clinical trials activated through the cooperative group mechanism and evaluate trial accrual progress using provided updates and data.
Important Papers in Thoracic Surgery 2025
- Apply newly acquired knowledge to real-world thoracic surgery cases.
- Demonstrate adherence to evidence-based surgical best practices.
- Evaluate changes in surgical performance and patient outcomes using case studies and outcome data.

- Summarize existing trials and identify areas where new ideas and initiatives are needed.

Lung Cancer Updates
- Describe current strategies for diagnosing and managing ground glass opacity-dominant lung adenocarcinoma, including surgical and non-surgical approaches.
- Evaluate emerging treatments and multidisciplinary approaches in lung cancer care, including lung transplantation considerations and advanced management of Pancoast tumors.

- Compare and contrast surgical approaches for chest wall and gastroesophageal conditions, including Nuss versus Ravitch procedures and gastropexy versus fundoplication, with emphasis on indications, outcomes, and patient selection.
- Identify appropriate databases for thoracic surgery research and quality assessment, including the strengths and limitations of STS, AATS, and other relevant registries.

- Explain the technical aspects of various general thoracic surgical procedures and actively engage in discussions on surgical decision-making and techniques.

Robotic Bronchoscopy Updates and Preparing the Next Generation of Leaders in Our Specialty
- Assess the comparative effectiveness and safety of robotic bronchoscopic biopsy versus CT-guided biopsy and outline practical steps for implementing robotic bronchoscopy in clinical practice.
- Review AI-driven methods for evaluating trainees and surgeons and discuss strategies to ensure the future competency and sustainability of the thoracic surgery specialty.
Super Bowl of X-Rays
- Analyze unusual radiographic findings and determine accurate diagnoses and treatment plans through a case-based, team-based competition.
- Apply diagnostic reasoning skills to enhance clinical competence, improve performance in practice, and contribute to better patient outcomes.
Criteria for Success
