University of Chicago: Full-time faculty members at any rank

The University of Chicago’s Department of Surgery, Section of Thoracic Surgery, is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees will have a strong interest in minimally invasive general thoracic surgery and a career trajectory in thoracic oncology, including mesothelioma and advanced thoracic malignancies.  They will have administrative and outreach responsibilities. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. We welcome applicants with robotic thoracic surgery training and/or experience.

The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children’s Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and the South Loop, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be board certified or eligible in American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent certification.
