The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking applications for a Board Certified/Eligible Thoracic Surgeon at the Assistant Professor level to join an adult practice in an academic teaching hospital as well as a community practice. Advanced fellowship with a focus on minimally invasive thoracic surgery is preferred but not required. Some coverage of cardiac surgery service is expected. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The thoracic surgeon will treat all facets of esophageal and thoracic disease with an emphasis on the treatment and management of lung cancer using conventional as well as minimally invasive approaches. The demographics of the community coupled with the relatively untapped market of Toledo makes this a solid opportunity to build a busy thoracic surgery practice.

The candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal skills and clinical skills to build a program with superb outcomes. The position requires involvement with education of University of Toledo medical students as well as general surgery residents. Research opportunities exist within the University of Toledo as well as collaboration with external researchers. Protected time and funds up to $250,000 are available for research with the approval of Division Chief, for those interested in building an academic career leading to NIH funded research.
